Real Construction,Dome Part I

My group contains 3 members which are our group leader Bie Xin Yu,Teo Sin Yee and me myself! =D

We started this project by gather around for details & also some useful information in making our real construction dome. So,our group discussion started....By using small & thin bamboo sticks,we tried to figure out how to make connections between bamboos IF they were the thick, big bamboo trunk.

We jotted down the possible ways in making connections between bamboos, several ways were suggested and we were trying to find the best way of course.

After discussion group ended, with estimated number of bamboo trunks needed,we set our foot to the nearest bamboo jungle to find our source. Here we are, getting ready to do some logging logging of bamboos~~~

We looked rather in the spirit of "YES WE CAN!" to get the bamboos we need.

I was trying to saw the bamboo into smaller portion for easy-carrying purposes.

With the guidance of our team leader,we worked together as a team to carry some freshly logged bamboos. This show how united we are! ^_^

After sweated & toiled, yeep, here are our products in front of us during the day!Looking forward for the REAL product when we are done~

Assignment2 ==Real Construction==

Our second assignment for RAG132....Production of a model of GEODESIC DOME
Hmm...build a dome using bamboo satay sticks,
It looks sophisticated, sounds very excited, but when i see how it's structure going to be I was like....HAHAHA,VERY "INTERESTING".Finally I chose to build a 3V structure.....Needless to say,I did that with the guide of dome calculater,XD!

So,right after we get the assignment I went out to buy some materials. What we need to have include bamboo satay sticks for sure,pens/pencils,ruler,a pair of scissors and also UHU glue.
Firstly, measure and make a mark on the bamboo satay sticks with respective lengths.

Yea,mark them and cut them!

After cutting them, made them into piles....don't mess them up please? >.<
I started my dome right from the core, halfway can see got star shape & flower-like shape! =D

Next,I drew a circle on a piece of paper with radius 10cm,well,I made this just to convenient myself when i made the base though

My sticks were arranged accordingly and they were glued together.

Slowly I built up layers by layers.

Haha, combination time! The top was hung up there while the base was carefully glued to the edges of the top.

It looked like this when it is almost done....Adding final touches using glues to reinforce the weak joints.
This is it =) phew, luckily my dome is in the shape of semisphere!*The view from the inner part of my dome* *The view when it is upside down*
Erm,one more thing to declare is that my thumb grow blisters after using my scissors to cut the satay sticks, but that's just a small matter if compared to my poor scissors,oh nooooo......XD!

BUT the thing is.....look at the satisfying face after the dome is completed!HAHAHAHAH........
